Wichita, Kan. -- Police say the man who accidentally shot a child during a game of "quick draw" over the weekend has committed suicide.
Both incidents happened in the 5800 block of East Kincaid, near Mt. Vernon and Woodlawn in southeast Wichita.
Just after midnight Sunday, police say a 70-year-old man was at the home with a 14-year-old boy and 10-year-old boy. They say the man began playing "quick draw" with the boys using his .22 caliber handgun, and unintentionally fired a shot.
Officers were called after the 10-year-old showed up at an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the face. The child was grazed by a bullet, but the wound was minor and he was treated and released.
Officers soon arrested the man, and he was booked for aggravated battery and two counts of aggravated child endangerment. Police said the boys weren't related to the man, but that he was friends with the 14-year-old boy's mother.
He was released from jail on Monday.
Around 9 p.m. Monday, a caller to 911 reported hearing a gunshot and then saw someone lying on the ground outside the home on Kincaid.
Police arrived and determined the 70-year-old man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
