Two men are in custody after they ditched their vehicle and ran during a brief pursuit Saturday morning in north Wichita.

It began around 10:30 a.m. in the 3100 block of North Park Place when officers attempted to stop a red Honda for expired tags.

The driver fled, heading west on 29th Street. Both suspects then ditched the vehicle and ran near 29th and Coolidge. Firearms and shell casings were reportedly found inside the Honda.

The passenger was taken into custody a short time later, and the driver was apprehended around 1 p.m. near 29th and Salina Street.

No injuries were reported.
