WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita police say a man fired warning shots after a carload of people rammed his car and followed him home Friday evening.

It began around 6:15 p.m. on the canal route section of I-135. The 22-year-old man told officers a was car driving erratically and attempted to run him off the road. Sgt. Ron Hunt said the suspect vehicle, described as a 90s red four-door Ford Contour, then hit the victim's rear bumper, causing minor damage.

The victim proceeded to drive home near Pawnee and George Washington Blvd. The suspects followed.

After a short physical confrontation in the front yard, the man went inside his home and retrieved a gun. He and his wife told the five men and three women to leave before the man fired a shot into the ground, the man's wife told KAKE News.

The men took off, but the women stayed, telling the man to shoot them. He, again, told them to leave and fired another shot into the ground. The women left after that.

The victim suffered only minor injuries.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
