UPDATE: Wichita Woman Finds Pipe Bomb While Setting Up Garage Sale

Wichita Police are trying to determine how a pipe bomb ended up in a box of items meant for a garage sale.

Late Thursday morning, a woman went to a storage unit to pick up items for a garage sale. She returned to her home in the 1500 block of West 29th Street North and while unpacking a box, saw what she believed to be a pipe bomb inside.

She called 911 and police responded. Officers on scene inspected it and called the bomb squad. Members of the bomb squad arrived and determined the device was indeed a pipe bomb, then detonated it in a controlled environment.

Police are currently trying to determine where the device came from.

Wichita Police were called to a north Wichita neighborhood after a woman discovered a possible explosive device.

Emergency crews were called to the scene in the 1500 block of West 29th North.

911 dispatchers said a woman reported finding what she believed to be a pipe bomb inside a duffel bag.
