WICHITA, Kan. -- Police are investigating after three different homes in one Wichita neighborhood are hit by bullets in just the last few days.

The most recent case was a home in the 2700 block of N. Madison. It happened sometime early Thursday, between 5 and 8 a.m.

Residents say seven bullets hit the front and side of the home, as the three people living there slept.

Police aren't saying much about the shooting, but told neighbors the gunfire appears to have come from a nearby bike trail.

A home just a few block away on N. Ash has at least twelve bullet holes in the front door, window, and walls. It was hit early Sunday. Just two blocks to the west, a home in the 2600 block of N. Minnesota was shot Wednesday night.

Police say it's not uncommon for shootings to increase in during the summer months, and warn people to be cautious and watch their surroundings.
