A man is dead in an incident involving a cow in Arkansas City.

Around 3:30 this morning, emergency crews were dispatched to Creekstone Farms in the 600 block of Coffind Road in Arkansas City.

When they arrived, they found an unresponsive man in a cattle pen area. He was taken to an area hospital and later pronounced dead.

Investigators say the man was in the cattle pen attempting to move cattle from one area to another when he was knocked down by a cow, and possibly injured by other cattle.

The man has been identified as 57-year-old Richard D. Gates of Blackwell, Oklahoma. An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
