Police: Armed, intoxicated man arrested trying to get into apartments

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — A man is in custody accused of firing shots while trying to get into apartments in Arkansas City.

Around 10:15 p.m. Monday, police were called to the 100 block of South B Street on the report of a possibly intoxicated man trying to enter apartments without permission. Residents also reported that they heard shots fired in the area of the front hallway and front yard area of the complex.

Officers arrived and found a man matching the description on the back porch of one of the units. They also found a handgun nearby, and evidence that shots had been fired.

Michael Shane Donaldson, 39, was taken in for questioning, then booked into jail on charges criminal discharge of a weapon into an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

No one was hurt.
