GODDARD, Kan. — A standoff that led to the evacuation of a Goddard elementary school has ended with two people being taken into custody.
Police say it all started after tip that a robbery was going to take place near West Kellogg and Oak Street. Officers arrived and arrested one woman who was in the front yard. They learned there might have been someone else barricaded in the home.
Students at nearby Oak Street Elementary were moved to Challenger Intermediate School for safety. The other robbery suspect was later arrested in west Wichita.
A Goddard elementary school has been evacuated as police responded to a possible standoff not far from the school.
A USD 265 spokesperson said students at Oak Street Elementary were moved to Challenger Intermediate School as a precaution. The students were never in any danger.
Police responded to a call near Oak Street and Kellogg. They remain on the scene.
