People rescued after becoming stuck in "Big Ditch"

WICHITA, Kan Criminal charges could be filed after several people needed to be rescued after becoming stuck in Wichita's "Big Ditch".

Sedgwick County deputies were told that a man driving a truck in the Wichita/Valley Center Floodway got it stuck Monday evening. The man called a female friend to drive to the canoe launch near 3100 E. 71st South and pick him up. At 11:00 p.m. , the woman had not been heard from and she was reported to have three children, between 4 years and 10 months old, with her.

Deputies located the truck at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday. They used ATVs to drive the woman and children out of the "Big Ditch". Wichita Police air units also took part in the search.

Investigators are looking into possible trespassing and child endangerment charges.
