Some news stories slide under the radar, and don't receive much attention.

But then there's those that people can't seem to stop talking about.

KAKE's Jordan Shefte is hitting the streets every week to talk with people about what caught their eye in the news.

This week, the big talkers can easily be summed up into one word descriptions.

Chicken, USA, and heat.

The popular fast-food chain made national news when the company's president made a statement regarding gay marriage.

The comment ruffled feathers and spurred movements by those on both sides of the issue.

"I think it's just kind of ridiculous because the man's entitled to his personal opinion and he didn't say he was going to discriminate against he just said what his opinion was on what marriage should be," one viewer told KAKE News.

"I think it's a little crazy, I think the man has a right to speak his mind," another said. "I mean even though he wasn't politically correct, he still has a right and to bash him like that I don't think is really good."

The summer Olympics has the nation cheering on the red, white and blue.

Between Michael Phelps becoming the most decorated Olympic athlete and the women's gymnastics team winning gold, people are glued to the games.

"I love it!" one viewer said. "I love that Michael Phelps I mean he started slow, but he came back strong and he's representing the United States."

"Of course always the Olympics, I like watching the Olympics, the American gymnastics team that was on last night, won the gold, but I'm waiting for track and field," another Olympic fan said.

Plus, It's no secret. This summer has been a hot one.

With weeks of triple digit temps, the drought is taking a toll. The record breaking heat has people reaching their breaking point.

"It's hotter than a two-way pistol on the Fourth of July," one person said.

"I watch mainly for the weather, which is hot, and dry and I think articles that are on the drought is what have caught my eye," another viewer said.

"The drought, definitely, we live on a small farm and things are really tough and have been now for two years so very worried about that," one farmer said.
