Wichita Police have identified a homeless man as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car in downtown Wichita Tuesday night.
The accident happened around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday on Broadway just south of 2nd Street when a man tried to cross the street, in an area without a crosswalk.
A 20-year-old woman didn't see the man, and hit him. He was rushed to an area hospital where he later died.
He has since been identified as 80-year-old Thomas Wimberly, and police say he was homeless as well as hard of hearing.
Police are still investigating the accident.

A pedestrian who was hit by a car in downtown Wichita Tuesday evening has died.
It happened just after 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of East 2nd Street and North Broadway.
Wichita Police Sgt. Dave Armstrong said the 80-year-old man was not using the crosswalk to cross Broadway just south of 2nd Street.
A motorist who was driving northbound on Broadway at about 30-miles-per-hour struck the victim. The driver told police she did not see the man crossing the street.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he died a short time later. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The accident is under investigation.
