Police: Pedestrian On Phone, Not In Crosswalk When Hit By Car

Wichita Police say a pedestrian who was struck by a car last night was not using a crosswalk and was on his cell phone when he was hit.

The man was hit by a car shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday on Ridge just south of Central in west Wichita. Officers believe he was distracted while crossing the street.

The man suffered a broken leg. The accident remains under investigation.

A pedestrian was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after being hit by a car Thursday night in west Wichita.

Officers were called to the accident just south of Central on Ridge Road around 10 p.m.

Authorities say a man in his thirties was not using the crosswalk when crossing Ridge Road and was hit by a southbound vehicle. The man suffered multiple injuries, including head trauma, but is expected to recover.

The woman driving the car was not hurt, but her vehicle sustained significant damage.
