Wichita, Kan. -- The Wichita Park voted today to move forward and hear from an interested business that wants to buy a portion of Clapp Golf Course, near Harry and Oliver.

"I think it's too early to really say I'm against this or I'm not. Certainly the idea of selling park land is foreign to most people. No one wants to go down that," said Bryan Frye, board president.

The Board is considering an idea to sell 90,000 square feet on the northeast part of the golf course for a retail business. The name of the business has not been disclosed at this time. They also plan to reconstruct the property to keep it as an 18-hold course.

Several residents who were present at the meeting were against the idea.

"I'm just afraid we're going to be setting a precedent here," said Michael Loop, resident

No official offers have been made at this time.
