A Valley Center man is dead after an overnight rollover accident in west Wichita.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on westbound Kellogg just west of I-235.
According to police, the driver of a truck lost control and hit a guardrail, launched into the air then rolled several times, killing the driver.
Officers believe speed was a factor in the crash, as the truck was airborne nearly 200 feet before hitting the ground and rolling. Damage shows the engine and transmission flew out of the truck during that time. There were no skid marks on the roadway, which indicates the driver didn't apply the brakes.
The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Brian H. Badders of Valley Center. He was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is the 10th traffic death in Wichita so far this year. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call police.
