An 18-year-old man remains hospitalized in intensive care following a stabbing early yesterday.

It happened shortly after 4:30 Sunday afternoon in the 3300 block of East Victor.

Police say a 36-year-old suspect attacked the 18-year-old, stabbing him several times before part of the knife broke off in his skull. A 19-year-old who was also in the residence then reportedly picked up a baseball bat and hit the suspect.

Police say that when officers arrived, they had to tase the suspect several times and hold him down in order to take him into custody.

They believe he had taken a drug that made him very combative.

One person was critically injured in a stabbing early Sunday morning in East Wichita.

It happened just after 4:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of Victor Place, near Douglas and Hillside.

Police said an 18-year-old male victim suffered stab wounds to the neck and head and that the knife blade broke off in his skull. He was taken to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition to undergo surgery. His current condition is unknown.

A 36-year-old man who also resides at the home taken to Wesley for minor injuries and arrested.

A third resident told police the attack was unprovoked and possibly drug related.

No names have been released.
