A wanted felon was arrested Friday evening after making threats to his girlfriend and setting her west Wichita home on fire.
It happened around 6 p.m. in the 600 block of North Flora Street.
Wichita Police Sgt. Jim Merrick said a 39-year-old woman contacted officers after her boyfriend wrote her a note threatening to kill her dog and set her house on fire. She also told police her boyfriend had lighter fluid and a ninja throwing star.
After a preliminary investigation, police determined the 40-year-old man was wanted on three felony warrants.
Officers arrived on scene and found the man uncooperative and armed with a knife. Fire crews were also called to the home.
The man set fire to the home shortly after and refused to come out, Merrick said. Because the man was armed, a SCAT team took hoses from firefighters, broke down the door and broke out several windows to get water on the fire.
"We hosed down the fire," Merrick said, "and we also hosed down the wanted felon with the knife."
The man was tased and arrested for aggravated arson, criminal threat and the three outstanding warrants.
The woman and the dog were not hurt.
