WICHITA, Kan. -- Two men remain in jail after yesterday's incident.

Officers arrested two men, ages 29 and 19. Both face charges of aggravated assault and vandalism. The 19-year-old was also booked on two counts of failure to appear in court on Wichita warrants.

Today, the sheriff's office confirmed there was not a third suspect. The motive for firing a shot at the Valley Center home is still unclear.

Previous story:

Two men are in custody after a shots fired call turned into a police pursuit and neighborhood search.

Just before 1 p.m. a woman who lives in the 5500 block of West 69th Street North called 911 saying two men got out of a car with a long rifle and fired at her house. The shot hit a window, but no one was hurt.

Valley Center officers searched the area, then spotted the suspect vehicle near 53rd and Meridian and began chasing it.

The suspects bailed out of the car at a dead end in the 3200 block of North Eisenhower, near 29th and Hoover.

Over 20 officers from Valley Center, Colwich, Maize, Wichita, Sedgwick County and the Kansas Highway Patrol set up a perimeter and quickly located one of the suspects, who was taken into custody without incident.

They located a second suspect about 15 minutes later, but continued to search just in case there was a third suspect.

The woman whose house was shot said there were two suspects, but some witnesses in northwest Wichita thought they saw a third.

The perimeter was released shortly after 2 p.m. Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter said they believe there were only two suspects, but will have some officers continuing to patrol the area as a precaution. He said the search took place in an isolated area with several places to hide.

They're processing the suspect's car, and did recover a rifle inside. Investigators haven't confirmed, but are checking to see if it's an actual rifle or a pellet gun.

Sheriff Easter said the two suspects in custody are known to deputies.

The school at St. Catherine of Siena, located near 37th and Ridge, had been placed on lockdown during the search as a precaution, but was lifted with an hour.
