WICHITA, Kan. -- A nunchuk-carrying shoplifting suspect is in custody, and police believe he may be involved in other recent crimes.

Around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the report of a shoplifting at Von Maur, located at Towne East Mall. An employee said he saw someone shoplifting and when he confronted him, the man displayed nunchuks in "a threatening manner," and ran from the store.

An officer was already across the street and began chasing him on foot. The suspect then turned around and pulled out the nunchuks, and police say he began "kung fu fighting." The officer Tasered the man, then took him into custody.

Police believe the 33-year-old suspect may also be connected to two recent break-ins at an east Wichita Target store. On November 2 and December 2, a suspect used concrete to break the front glass at the same store on Towne East Drive. Digital cameras were stolen the first time, and cell phones were taken in the most recent case. Read more on those cases by clicking here.

Davon Everett was booked on several charges, including aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, possession of illegal weapons, possession of drug paraphernalia, shoplifting and burglary.
