A north Wichita home was damaged by fire Tuesday evening. Crews were called to the 1900 block of North Wellington Place just before 8:30 p.m.
Wichita Fire Battalion Chief Kevin Royse said a neighbor called 911 after looking out his window and seeing smoke and flames. When crews arrived, they found fire in the kitchen. It was quickly brought under control.
The family that lives in the two-story house was not home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. Damage is estimated at $40,000.
