WICHITA, Kan.--- Homeowners in a West Wichita neighborhood are frustrated of a repeat offender.

"We shouldn't have to live with this," said Janet Bobbitt, her elderly parents live next door to the overgrown yard in the 900 block of North Bebe.

Her neighbors' front yard has overgrown grass and in the backyard the weeds are higher than six feet.

"You get tired of looking at it. You worry about fleas and ticks and we've already gotten the little field mice in," said Bobbitt.

The neighbors are repeat offenders of a city ordinance prohibiting rank grass, weeds, and other vegetation to grow over 12 inches in height.

According to property tax records, the neighbors were fined by the City of Wichita for weed cutting in 2011.

"It's been a battle every summer to get something done with the yard," said Bobbitt.

The Central Inspection Office has an open case on this property. They have notified the homeowners and asked to rectify the problem within 10 days. Now, a contractor is scheduled to mow the yard this week and the homeowners will be required to pay.
