Nearly 200 pigs were killed in a semi truck crash yesterday in southwest Kansas.

The crash happened just before 3 p.m. Tuesday on K-51 highway about 7 miles north of Rolla in Morton County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a southbound semi left the roadway, entered the ditch and turned over. The trailer was carrying 560 feeder pigs, and 176 were killed. The rest were transferred to another trailer

The 45-year-old driver from Ulysses was not seriously hurt.
