Wichita, Kan. -- Sedgwick County Sheriff's Deputies were busy Saturday collecting unused, expired or unwanted medications.
It was part of the DEA's National Drug Take Back initiative. The program works to help curtail prescription drug abuse and to prevent medications from potentially tainting water supplies by being improperly disposed of.
Deputies collected both prescription and non-prescription drugs at several sites in the county. Sheriff's Sgt. Scott Plummer says in all, deputies collected 539 pounds of drugs.
