An Atchison, Kansas teenager was killed when the car she was riding in left a highway and rolled into a pond. The accident happened late Sunday afternoon in Leavenworth.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said a car was eastbound on US Highway 73 when it started to drift to the left. The driver overcorrected to the right. The car then went off the highway, went through a fence and rolled into a pond.
Desirae Crossland, 15, died from her injuries. The driver, Felicity Crossland, 18, and a passenger, Kelsey Essig, 18, were taken to a hospital for treatment.
