Murder charges have been filed in the July 24 death of a Pratt woman and her unborn child, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said Friday.
Twenty-one-year-old Bryant Alan Seba was charged with one of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 22-year-old Alexandra Duran and a second count because Duran was pregnant. Schmidt also filed a count of attempted first-degree murder in the shooting and wounding of Brandon Wright.
The shooting happened Wednesday, July 24 at a home in the 100 block of North Ninnescah in Pratt. Neighbors reported that a dispute between neighbors lead to the shooting. Duran was rushed to the Pratt County Hospital where she later died.
The attorney general filed notice that if Seba is convicted of any charges less than first degree murder, the state will ask the jury the find that the crimes were racially motivated and ask the court to impose longer prison terms.
Seba remains in the Pratt County jail on a $2 million bond. He is scheduled for a first appearance August 5.
