Mulvane, Kan. -- Voters in Mulvane have approved a sales tax increase to build a new library.
The new 14,042 square foot facility will be constructed in the 400 block of 2nd Street and is projected to cost around $4 million. 1 percent sales tax will go into effect on Oct. 1 and will run through 2024 or until the cost of the library has been paid in full.
The measure passed 405 to 264 with 60 percent of voters approving.
In Wellington, voters approved a new school bond issue. The $11 million dollar bond issue will make security improvements to schools as well as install FEMA shelters.
The bond issue passed 713 to 308.
