WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita police wound up handling two serious motorcycle crashes in about seven hours Sunday. The second one left two people dead.
The crash happened shortly before midnight on Seneca at Kellogg.
Police say they were called to check a burglary on Elizabeth Street, several blocks southwest of the crash site. A sheriff's deputy tracking a reported getaway bike came upon a motorcycle, which had collided with a car.
"There was a male and female on the motorcycle," Police Sgt. Ben Jonker told reporters. "Both were transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition, and both have since passed away."
Killed were Matthew Tanges and Angela Watson. Both were 26 years old. Police said the motorcycle was stolen.
South Seneca and a westbound ramp exiting Kellogg were closed for more than six hours, while police searched for evidence.
Video from inside the Sedgwick County patrol car shows several motorists may have witnessed the crash. If you saw the crash call sheriff investigations at (316) 660-5300.
