On Tuesday, Sedgwick County Sheriff's officers searched for more evidence in the case, near 87th Street North and Greenwich.
Earlier this month, defense attorneys argued that it was necessary to have an independent expert inside the DNA testing lab.
However, Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett said the request was unnecessary and is the first time he has heard of such a request.
The judge is expected to make a decision on this motion this afternoon.
KAKE's Phil White will report from the courtroom.
