OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) -- A woman who lost her father and son to shootings at a Jewish community center says she knows they are in heaven together.
Mindy Corporon is the mother of 14-year-old Reat Griffin Underwood and the daughter of William Corporon, who died outside the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park Sunday. William Corporon took his grandson to the center to audition for a contest.
Video shown on local media sites show Mindy Corporon speaking calmly a vigil Sunday night while others are heard sobbing. She said she arrived at the shooting scene before police and ambulances and "knew immediately that they were in heaven." She vowed that her family would continue living life to the fullest.
