More than 12,000 people visited the Sedgwick County Zoo on Saturday as part of the zoo's Back-To-School Bash.
Admission was just $1 per person for the one-day special event.
"It's kind of a gift to our community to give everyone the opportunity to come out and enjoy the zoo," said Melissa Graham, the Sedgwick County Zoo Public Relations and Marketing Manager.
Hundreds of people also brought school supplies donations. The donations were collected by the Salvation Army outside the zoo gates. The supplies will be added to the Kakeland School Supply Landslide to help local students.
