December 3rd

It's Mommy Mondayand we want to look at topics that are important to you as parents. It's a parents worst nightmare, your child being diagnosed with a dangerous illness.

Today's topic comes from one mother who says her youngest child has had two heart transplants and the mother finds it difficult to discipline her child, and she knows he older daughters resent this.

Here's what parenting experts at have to say about this.

1.Shouldn't confuse feelings about the hand your daughter has been dealt with. The insignifigance of everyday discipline, like being forced to clean up after herself, just like her siblings do.

2.When you are tempted to give her special consideration because of how unfair life has treated her, say to yourself, "We can't do anything about that. but we can do something about her room, her behavior and so on."

3. And consider this: if you act as though saying "no" to your daughter is the end of the world, she'll come to believe that every little disappointment is as a big deal as her illness-- and that's not goodfor her or anyone else in the family.

4. Reminding your daughter what's expected of her will bring a sense of normalcy back to your home and everyone in it.
