No one was seriously hurt when a fire truck rolled over last night in Reno County.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of 82nd and Hendricks Road, north of Hutchinson. When deputies arrived on scene, they found a wrecked fire truck in a ditch with heavy damage.
The 18-year-old woman who was driving was wearing her seat belt and suffered minor injuries. She told deputies that her father was driving a District 3 fire brush truck, and she was following him in the fire engine. She said she began to apply the brakes to slow down when the front wheels began to turn. That's when the truck left the roadway and she over-corrected, veering into the other lane. The truck rolled once into the ditch.
She was taken to an area hospital to be checked out as a precaution. No one else was hurt.
