A fire at a Junction City business yesterday caused hundreds of thousands in damage.
Shortly before noon Wednesday, fire crews were dispatched to the report of a building fire at The Military Outlet store at 722 N. Washington in Junction City.
They found smoke pouring from the building and began to fight the fire, but were eventually forced to pull out. Junction City firefighters got the situation under control about two hours later with mutual aid assistance from the Fort Riley and Gear County fire departments.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but preliminary loss estimates are already over $300,000. The building houses the Military Outlet store on the first floor, and the Masons Temple on the second and third floors.
