A McPherson man is being held in the Saline County Jail on multiple charges stemming from an accident that killed a motorcyclist.
On April 13 at around 9:00 p.m., 29-year-old Shawn Farley was driving on U.S. Highway 81, just south of Salina. His minivan crossed the center line and hit a motorcycle driven by 45-year-old Brad Gearhart of Assaria, KS. Gearhart was pronounced dead at the scene. Farley was taken to a Salina hospital for treatment.
A 7-year-old girl who was riding in Farley’s minivan was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt.
Farley was booked into the Saline County Jail on April 14 on charges of a second DUI, involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence, and aggravated child endangerment. His bond is $75,000 for each charge for a total of $225,000. His first court appearance is set for May 21 at 9:00 a.m.
