The mayors of Wichita and Louisville are making a friendly wager on the outcome of Saturday's basketball match-up between the Shockers and Cardinals.
Thursday morning, Mayor Carl Brewer spoke to Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer by phone. If the Shockers win, Fischer is sending Brewer a selection of Kentucky Bourbon along with t-shirts, hats, bourbon candles, glasses and a silver flask.
“I’m so confident of a Cardinal win that I’m willing to bet a fully-stocked bourbon bar on this critical game,” Fischer said.
If the Cardinals prevail, Mayor Brewer will send a basket of Sterling Silver steaks, compliments of Wichita-based Cargill beef, and a case of Brewer's Best Bar-b-que sauces.
“I don’t want to leave Mayor Fischer disappointed and empty handed, so I will ship my barbeque sauce for him to enjoy," Mayor Brewer said. He hopes the barbecue sauces will "take the sting" out of Louisville's loss to the Shockers.
