One man is in custody, and marijuana and cash seized following a search warrant yesterday in Great Bend.
Barton County sheriff's detectives had recently obtained information that substantial quantities of controlled substances were being sold from a residence in Great Bend. Just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, sheriff's deputies and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at that home in the 1000 block of Jefferson Street.
Once inside, officers found 6 pounds of "very high-quality" marijuana and $16,000 in cash. In addition, two vehicles and other property was seized as evidence and will be processed under the Kansas Drug Forfeiture Act.
Deputies also recovered two firearms, one being a handgun that had been reported stolen in Great Bend.
Tyson E. Sanders, 32, of Great Bend was arrested at the scene and is facing charges of possession of drugs with intent to distribute, possession of stolen property and sales of controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school. He's being held on a $300,000 bond.
