ST. MARYS, Kan. (WIBW) -- The man killed New Years Day in St. Mary's has been identified as 24-year-old Levi W. Bishop of Rossville.
Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat said deputies were called to the St. Mary's Police Station just before 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. Riat says Bishop was brought to the police station by private vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Riat said Bishop was dead when deputies arrived.
Riat said the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Pablo Alberto Gonzalez, was arrested shortly after the incident. It's believed the victims was a passenger in Gonzalez's car.
Pottawatomie County Attorney Sherri Schuck told 13 News Thursday that her office has formally charged Gonzalez with one count of second degree murder. He is being held at the Pottawatomie County Jail on $1 million bond.
A first appearance for Gonzalez is tentatively set for January 7.
