WICHITA, Kan. - Police are seeking a suspect in an early-morning shooting near Wichita State University.
Police were called to the area of 16th and Hillside around 2:30 a.m., after several people in the neighborhood heard gunfire. Officers found a 36-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries, but is expected to survive.
The victim has been speaking with officers. He said he was walking down the street with a woman when a car drove by. That's when he was shot, but he isn't sure if it came from the car or somewhere else.
Police say the man and woman are not gang members. So far they have no witnesses and no leads.
