WICHITA, Kan. -- A Wichita man died following a rollover crash early Sunday morning on the city's west side.
The crash happened shortly after 2 a.m. at West Kellogg and I-235.
The driver was headed eastbound on Kellogg and took the southbound I-235 ramp too fast, said Master Trooper Scott Koehn of the Kansas Highway Patrol. He lost control of his 2007 Mercury Mountaineer, which rolled before coming to rest in the median.
The driver, identified as 26-year-old Luis Beltran Lopez III, was ejected from the SUV through the windshield, Koehn said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is too early for troopers to say what factors may have contributed to the crash, Koehn said.
A stretch of I-235 southbound and the ramps to I-235 from eastbound Kellogg were closed for the safety of the troopers as they investigated the crash. The roadways were reopened around 4:15 a.m.
