UPDATE: Man injured in construction accident dies

BEL AIRE, Kan. — A man injured in a construction accident last month in Bel Aire, has died.

Police say 40-year-old Benjamin Gomez died this morning from injuries suffered in the accident.

Police say Gomez was living in Wichita, but is from Honduras.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the accident.

A man has been seriously hurt in an accident at an area construction site.

Police say a 38-year-old man was injured when he was thrown from a bucket attached to a Bobcat at a construction site in the 5600 block of North Lycee. That's near 53rd Street North and Rock Road in Bel Aire.

Bel Aire Police Chief Darrell Atteberry said the man landed on his head. He was taken to Wesley Medical Center in serious condition.

The operator of the Bobcat wasn't hurt.

An apartment complex is under construction in the area, near Northeast Magnet High School.
