WICHITA, Kan. — Police are investigating after a teen was shot yesterday in southwest Wichita.

It happened around 1 a.m. Sunday during a birthday party at a home in the 2400 block of South St. Clair. That's near Pawnee and Meridian.

Police said several residents in the area reported shots being fired at the party. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but he has since been treated and released. Sgt. John Hoofer said he is being uncooperative with police.

Police said 40 to 50 people were at the home at the time of the shooting that they say is gang-related. Officers believe the suspects were from a rival gang and that shots may have been exchanged between the two groups.

No arrests have been made.
