WICHITA, Kan. -- Sheriff's deputies have identified the man who was killed in an accident over the weekend on Rock Road.
It happened shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday near 39th Street South and involved multiple vehicles. Sgt. Jeff Ohmart said a car traveling northbound on Rock Road began fishtailing on the snow and ice, lost control and went into the southbound lanes.
A Ford Focus collided broadside with the vehicle on the driver's side. A Chevrolet Tahoe also hit the car, while another SUV went into the ditch to avoid striking any of the vehicles.
The driver of the car that lost control was taken by EMS to the hospital where he died a short time later. He's been identified as 21-year-old Zackary Dix of Mulvane.
Two others were taken to the hospital. One had serious injuries, Ohmart said.
Rock Road was closed for several hours while deputies investigated the accident and worked to clear the roadway.
