WICHITA, Kan. -- One man is in critical condition after a scooter and a car collided Friday evening, police said.
It happened around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Maple and Osage, which is just east of Seneca.
Sgt. Steve Yarberry said a tan Honda Accord was stopped at a stop sign on Osage and turned left on Maple in front of a westbound scooter or moped-type vehicle.
A 51-year-old man was thrown from his scooter after it collided with the car. He was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.
Yarberry said the man was coherent and able to talk with police and EMS.
The driver of the Honda was not hurt.
