WICHITA, Kan. -- A 45-year-old man has died after he was hit by a train Sunday morning in south Wichita.
It happened around 7:15 a.m. at Harry and Southeast Boulevard.
The train's engineers told officers the man was standing on the tracks and facing the train prior to being hit, Sgt. Runft said.
"He had his hands up," he said, "and was aware the train was coming."
The man died a short time after he was taken to Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital. His name has not been released pending family notification.
