WICHITA, Kan. -- A man was arrested Friday night after he allegedly held a gun to a woman's head in an attempt to steal her car.

The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. outside the Walmart in the 11400 block of East Kellogg.

Sgt. Ron Hunt said a 28-year-old woman was in her car when a man approached, asking for a ride. When she refused, the suspect reportedly held a gun to her head and demanded her car.

The woman exited the car and ran toward the Walmart as the suspect grabbed at her arm in an attempt to get her keys, Hunt said. She yelled for help and was able to get away. The suspect ran away.

A short time later, an officer saw a taxi pulling into the parking lot, and a man believed to be the suspect got in. Police stopped the cab and arrested the 25-year-old man.

Further details were not provided.
