WICHITA, Kan. -- A Wichita man was arrested Friday evening after he threatened to shoot his wife and himself on the city's south side.
Sgt. Bruce Watts said a 36-year-old woman called police around 7 p.m. and said her husband was drunk, had a rifle and was threatening to kill her and himself.
The woman then put the phone down, and dispatchers were able to hear the conversation.
"Dispatchers could hear the husband saying he was going to kill the female with the rifle and then kill himself," Watts said.
When officers arrived in the 1800 block of South Pattie, they cordoned off the house and convinced the man and woman to come out.
The 35-year-old man was arrested for aggravated assault and domestic battery. Officers found the rifle behind a couch in the home.
