Police say the man who was killed Friday night in north Wichita was actually hit by two cars.
The accident happened around 7:15 p.m. at 17th and Piatt. Police said Michael Spires, 49, was walking across the street when he was hit by one car, then knocked into the path of another heading the opposite direction. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man is dead after he was hit by a car in a north Wichita neighborhood Friday evening.
It happened just after 7 p.m. in the 2100 block of East 17th Street, near 17th and Piatt. Police say a car going east on 17th hit the victim, who was thrown into the westbound lane.
Officers are still investigating the accident. The victim's name has not been released.
