Man Pleads Guilty To Driving Getaway Car In Robbery

Today, a Wichita man pleaded guilty to driving a getaway car in a robbery that led to shots being fired at a Wichita police officer.

In federal court Tuesday morning, 49-year-old James L. Adamson pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting a robbery that happened on June 7th of this year.

In his plea, he admitted to driving the getaway car when an another man robbed a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the 1200 block of South Woodlawn.

His co-defendant, 55-year-old Paul F. Sifuentez, also of Wichita, is currently awaiting trial.

When police found the men shortly after the robbery, Sifuentez allegedly fired three times at an officer, shattering the glass on the door of a patrol car.

Sifuentez is facing charges of robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, discharging a firearm at a Wichita police officer and unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.

Sentencing for Adamson is scheduled for January 30th.
