The Kansas Turnpike Authority has identified the man killed Monday in Sumner County.

Troopers say 53-year-old Eugene Ewing III of Sand Springs, Oklahoma was killed when he was entering the northbound lanes of the turnpike from US Highway 166. A crash report says his semi tractor trailer appeared to be going too fast and overturned in the inside lane, then struck the barrier wall before rolling over.

No other vehicles were involved and no one else was hurt.

One man has died in a tractor-trailer rollover accident in Sumner County. It happened at around 6:00 p.m. Monday in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike, about 4 miles north of the Kansas/Oklahoma border.

The Kansas Turnpike Authority says the 52-year-old driver was exiting Highway 166 to northbound I-35 and lost control. The semi then rolled over and landed on its side.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Speed may have played a factor in the accident, officials say.

The semi was hauling liquid petroleum. Authorities say the left lane of the Turnpike in that area will remain closed until the roadway is cleared.
