Police are investigating a shooting in southeast Wichita that sent a man in his 20s to the hospital early Saturday morning.

Wichita Police Lt. Jose Salcido said 911 dispatchers received several calls just before 1 a.m. reporting gunshots in the 800 block of South Mission, which is just east of Lincoln and Woodlawn.

Salcido said officers found the victim on the ground soon after they arrived. The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition, Salcido said.

Officers and detectives were canvassing the neighborhood, looking for witnesses and evidence. Salcido said anybody with information about the shooting should call the Wichita Police Department or Crimestoppers at 267-2111.
