Wichita Homicide Victim Identified

Wichita police have identified a man shot to death in a home Tuesday evening. Jeremiah Doby, 26, was shot at a home in the 1700 block of East 23rd North.

Police arrested three 16-year-olds at 1709 E. Looman. They are in juvenile detention.

Officers believe robbery is the motive for the shooting.

Wichita Police said robbery may have been the motive in a fatal shooting Tuesday night. The shooting happened in the 1700 block of East 23rd Street North.

Police said four suspects have been taken into custody. The suspects are identified as three teenagers and a man in his twenties. Early Wednesday afternoon, police booked three 16 year-old boys into the juvenile detention facility on first degree murder charges. The adult was booked into jail on warrants, not connected to the murder.

Police said the 27-year-old victim was home alone with two young children. The victim had been shot several times in the stomach.

Two children, a one-year-old boy and six-month-old girl, were in the home at the time of the shooting. They are the children of the victim's sister.

Wichita Police say family returned home to find a 26 year-old man shot inside of their home.

It happened shortly before 8:30 Tuesday evening in the 1700 block of E. 23rd Street North. Captain Rusty Leeds says the man was home alone with two small children at the time of the shooting. They were not hurt.

The family had left earlier in the evening and had left the 26 year-old man with the children. Sedgwick County EMS transported the victim to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition and he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Captain Leeds says at the moment they do not have any suspects and are interviewing people in the neighborhood to try to locate any witnesses.

A Sedgwick County 911 dispatch supervisor has confirmed to KAKE News that the victim has been pronounced dead at the hospital.

Wichita Police homicide detectives have been called to the scene and and investigation is underway. We will have more coming up in our 10 o'clock report.

Wichita Police are investigating a shooting that has sent a 27 year-old man to the hospital in very critical condition.

The shooting happened shortly before 8:30 Tuesday evening at a home in the 1700 block of East 23rd Street North near I-135 and 21st Street. Wichita Police were called to the scene and found a man who had been shot in the chest.

He has been transported to Wesley Medical Center in very critical condition. KAKE's Parrish Alleman is on scene and will have more coming up at 10 o'clock.
